FAQs

Where does camp take place? 

Spring Break and Summer Camp 2023 will take place at FAME Center: 1319 S. State Street, Chicago IL, 60605 

 

Is FAME Center affiliated with Willow Creek Community Church? 

No, FAME Center is a 501(c)(3) and is not affiliated with Willow Creek Community Church. 

 

Are lunch and snacks provided? 

Campers need to bring their own lunch, including a water bottle and a 2 separate snacks for the morning and afternoon, each day. Please label the lunch box/bag with your child’s full name. Please do not send candy, gum or soda. No refrigeration or heating is available, so please pack non-perishable food. Please do not bring food for your camper to share. NO NUTS ALLOWED. 

 

What medical and emergency information do you need for my child? 

During the registration process, you will be asked to provide an emergency contact, any known allergies, and any medications your child will need to bring to camp (i.e Epipens, etc.)

 

What is FAME Center doing to ensure health and safety needs are met? 

FAME Center will continue to follow the guidelines of the CDC, as well as City and State safety mandates. 

 

Does my camper need to be vaccinated?

Currently all FAME Summer Camp faculty and staff are required to be vaccinated; we are not requiring students to be. We are however in support of vaccination for your camper. If you are still weighing the decision on whether or not to have your child vaccinated, and have questions, more information on youth vaccination can be found here: https://www.chicago.gov/city/en/sites/covid19-vaccine/home/for-youth.html

 

Do you administer first aid? How do you handle emergency situations?

FAME Center staff will administer first aid if needed. In the event of a medical emergency, the camper’s emergency contact will be immediately notified and 911 will be called.

 

What should my camper wear to camp? 

Campers should wear clothing that allows them to be comfortable and physically active! Camp activities will take place both indoors and outdoors- we recommend bringing/wearing tennis shoes, weather appropriate outerwear and a sweatshirt or light overlayer to wear inside. Campers should bring an art smock or old t-shirt to wear during art activities to protect their clothes. 

 

Can my child be in the same pod as their friend? 

Pods will be determined based on age. We will do our best to honor friend requests, provided they are in the same age group. Friend requests can be made during the registration process. 

 

What should my camper bring to camp? 

Campers should bring labeled lunch, 2 snacks and water bottle, as well as sunscreen and insect repellent. 

 

Is tuition assistance available? 

Yes, it is! More information can be found on our Financial Aid page. If you are in need of a payment plan, please email camp@famecenter.org


What are your age requirements?

Spring Break and Summer Camps are open to rising 1st-4th graders (ages 5-10)!

 

Do you offer refunds for camp? 

No refunds will be given for withdrawal from Spring Break Camp.
 

Campers who withdraw from Summer Camp prior to May 19, 2023, will receive a full refund, minus a $50 administrative fee. No refund will be given for withdrawals after May 19, 2023. FAME Center Camp tuition cannot be prorated or refunded for camp absences.
